I’m sure most of you have seen me talk about how much I love Spoonflower over here!! We use them for so many of our DIY projects, from wallpaper, to homemade wrapping paper and whatever current sewing project we are working on. Today I am so excited to share with you about their amazing, brand new Organic Sweet Pea Gauze™!! It is seriously one of my new favorite fabrics, so soft and cuddly and the colors are amazing. And the best part is I can use my own designs to make this great fabric!
I am so excited to share with you four different fun and simple pieces that you can make out of one 2 yard piece of Organic Sweet Pea Gauze™. I hate fabric waist and I love to have coordinating pieces so this is the best of both worlds.
I will share with you how to make:
1)full size baby swaddle
2)doll size swaddle
3)baby teether
4)and an on the go blankie
What you’ll need for this DIY:
1) 2 yds of Spoonflowers Organic Sweet Pea Gauze™ (preferably in your favorite Live Sweet Print!)
2)Sewing machine
3)wooden teething ring
4)12 inch piece of ribbon of choice
When fabric arrives serge or zig zag around edges and wash and dry to get that perfect soft, crinkly look.
Next cut your fabric into four pieces.
For baby swaddle cut a 45x45in piece
From remaining fabric cut a 30x25in piece for baby doll swaddle and then a 20x20in piece for the On the go blankie. You will use your remaining scraps to make the teether.
To make baby swaddle simply turn edges under twice on the 45x45in piece and top stitch 1/4″ to a 1/2″. Do the same for the doll swaddle.
For the on the go blanket fold the 20×20″ piece in and find the middle. Take 12″ piece of ribbon and fold in half(we used a thick satin ribbon, but any kind would be cute.)Next fold both ends of the ribbon over about an inch and sew a couple rows of zigzag stitching in the center of blanket to create a sort of handle on the center of blankie.
To create teether simply cut to length you’d like your teether to be and fold right sides together leaving both ends open for easy turning. Turn it right side out and sew edges shut. Tie onto your wooden teething ring.

Now Libby can wrap all her dollies in these homemade doll swaddles and I have the perfect baby shower gifts with a full-size baby swaddle and matching accessories because let’s be honest, you can never have too many baby blankets and swaddles!
