We are so excited to share a fun new series we are starting here on the blog called Treat Yourself Handmade Hustlers! We absolutely love the awesome creative community that we get to work with and are so excited to share more about them right here! These ladies aren’t just hard workers, they are hustlers! Many have children or second jobs and run their households while also running businesses. We want to applaud, encourage and support them!
Our box was born not only out of a desire to help others indulge for themselves every now and then, but also out of our passion to empower and help grow other small, handmade and women-owned businesses.We will be sharing more about these amazing shops and the women behind them each week!
Today we would like to introduce you to Nicole Ebbitt from The Caramel Jar @thecarameljar ! Let me just start by saying that her caramel is absolutely addicting and probably one of my all time favorites treats!!
What are your favorite ways to treat yourself?: A lovely hot meal with my husband and yes, without my child.
What’s your favorite sweet treat?: hmmm.. Caramel?
Which do you prefer milk or dark chocolate?: Caramel?? Likely a semi sweet, or a delicate dark chocolate.
What is your favorite time of day to create?: I’ve always been a hammer it out kinda girl. Let’s get this done so I can move and and enjoy life. After having my son, I realized this is not a choice anymore. I work when I can, around his naps and I’m ok with that.
What’s your favorite holiday?: Thanksgiving. It’s the only truly food centered holiday where people are only focused on what I love most, sharing a meal with my closest friends/family.
What color describes your personality best?: Type A, No BS, and don’t say “no” b/c I’ll prove that I can do it anyway.
If you had one what was the name of your childhood imaginary friend?: none, but it would have been food centered. Like, “hey mister broccoli, where’s the cheese?”
What makes your life sweeter?: My husband, my son, and our dogs.
Why do you create what you create?: I appreciate what food represents, sharing, growing, love, quality and creativity.
What are 3 of your favorite handmade shops?: holy smokes, no way. hmmmm….I can’t. I just can’t. I have so many!!! A few are The Wishing Elephant, Baby Jives Co, Carly Megan, June and January , AHeirloom and Candelles. I buy from these ladies multiple times a year so I guess that makes them a fave???
What advice would you give someone just starting out selling handmade?: Work hard, stay focused and listen to your clients.
