This recipe is totally just for fun and you can use whatever flavor ice cream you like! I wanted to buy mermaid flavored ice cream that I found at Target before, but I was unable to find it for this milkshake recipe, so we just used some food coloring. We made our own whipped cream topping that makes this extra yummy, but you can just use canned whipped cream as well.
This mermaid milkshake turned out so gorgeous and fun, I just love it so much! How we get the fun drippy effect with sprinkles is we melt chocolate then roll the top of the jar in the chocolate and then roll it in the sprinkles. It will then harden and it adds such a gorgeous touch to your creation!
I found out while making these that you are able to make these ahead of time. Like if you have a party planned or want to surprise your little one with a fun treat just make everything, put it all together, and then put it back in the freezer and it will stay!
Then you can pull it out later when you are ready and enjoy!
I wanted to make a milkshake that you see when you go out to a restaurant and they have a bunch of fancy things in it! This lived right up to the expectations and I love it! I get my mermaid sprinkles from either Amazon or Etsy. Etsy seems to have a great variety of them.
