I have never made scones at home before so this was a first for me! I love to get scones when I go out to bakeries, but I always assumed that they were tricky to make so I never tried. I came across this Funfetti Scone recipe on Sallys Baking Addiction I just knew I had to make them. I had some mermaid sprinkles around that went great with these and I just wanted something fun for the kids and I to do on a quiet afternoon.
These were super fun and easy and you don’t need a mixer to make these, which is one of my favorite things! I just shaped the dough with my hands and then cut it into pieces. The kids loved adding the ingredients to the bowl and watching everything come together.
These are absolutely amazing right out of the oven! I think scones are best fresh so right out of the oven and on the first day they were the best. I suggest brushing on heavy cream or half and half on top before putting them in the oven it makes them extra delicious. I liked them with either glaze or sugar crystals on top, either were so delicious!
These are perfect for a mermaid tea party! You can use any sprinkles, but I just love the mermaid theme we have going on!
