I am so excited to share this yummy birthday cake muffin recipe with you all! A while back my girlfriend told me about these muffins she got at a special bakery she got near her, they were called “bluffins” I decided I needed to make them and I searched everywhere looking for a recipe to make them and I could not find anything on them. She sent me a picture and it was a muffin covered in sugar and this is similar to a muffin we make called “Muffins that taste like Donuts” I attempted to change up this recipe a bit to try and see if it would come out similar to the muffins she got at the bakery!
After a bit of experimenting, I basically just tweaked the recipe some taking out the cinnamon and nutmeg, added vanilla, and some sprinkles to create a fun birthday party muffin. You can eat it just as is or you can dip it in melted butter and roll them in cinnamon and sugar, kind of like a donut! We love dipping them in butter and sugar!
This was such a fun little experiment, that I know I am going to be making all the time for parties! You can just dump all the ingredients in the bowl of a mixer, mix them up, put them in a muffin tin, and pop them in the oven! They are perfect for a last-minute treat and are perfect for a festive party or just to have when you are having an afternoon of fun with the kids! These are best fresh, so I suggest making them right before you want/need them. If you do have leftovers just make sure to keep them in an airtight container and eat within a few days!
We are looking forward to trying out some new muffin recipes with this recipe. Now that I know I can switch out ingredients and add different ingredients we get to play around making some new muffin recipes. This is a perfectly moist muffin base that is super yummy and will be so fun to play around with!

Ingredients
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 3 tsp. Baking powder
- 2/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 cup sprinkles
- Toppings (optional):
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Spray muffin pan with nonstick spray. (I prefer a silicone muffin pan because the muffins pop out easier.)
- Mix dry ingredients together in a bowl
- Add in eggs milk, vegetable oil, vanilla and stir until well blended. Add in sprinkles and stir until combined.
- Scoop muffin batter into greased muffin pan filling each hole about 3/4 way full.
- Bake at 350 for about 15-20 minutes or until just starting to get golden on the edges. Remove from oven and let cool just a bit.
- Melt your topping butter and put your sugar in a bowl. Dip your muffin in the butter coating it entirely and then roll it into the sugar to coat just like a sugar-coated doughnut!
- Enjoy these warm if you can as they are the most delicious this way!
