If you’re a fan of chocolate mint iced tea, why not grow your own chocolate mint at home? Chocolate Mint is a relatively easy herb to grow, and it’s a great addition to any herb garden. To grow chocolate mint at home, you’ll need a few things.
First, you’ll need a pot with good drainage. Mint can be grown indoors or outdoors, but it’s important to make sure your pot has drainage holes to prevent water from sitting in the soil and causing root rot. You’ll also need some potting soil and mint seeds or cuttings. Mint seeds can be purchased online or at your local garden center, or you can take cuttings from an existing mint plant. To plant your chocolate mint, fill your pot with potting soil and make a small hole in the center. If you’re using seeds, plant them about ¼ inch deep and cover them with soil.
If you’re using cuttings, remove the bottom leaves and plant the stem in the soil, leaving just a few leaves above the surface. Water your mint regularly, keeping the soil moist but not waterlogged. Mint likes to be in partial shade, so if you’re growing it indoors, place it near a window that gets some indirect sunlight. Once your mint plant starts to grow, you can harvest the leaves as needed for your chocolate mint iced tea. Simply pinch off a few leaves and add them to your tea for a fresh and flavorful twist.
